Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Goodbye peach fuzz! Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). This hair often causes a buildup of dirt and oils in the follicles, so removing the hair gives the patient brighter, healthier looking skin. A common question asked is if the hair will return darker and coarse after dermaplaning and the answer is no! As long as the hair removed is vellus hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment. Dermaplaning is a great option for women in the Maryville, Illinois area looking to get rid of unwanted facial hair, or who have sensitive skin or rosacea.

How Does it Work?

During a dermaplaning treatment, a trusted Nurse Practitioner or Licensed Aesthetician will use a 10 gauge scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. It is recommended you pair dermaplaning with a customized peel or facial to optimize your results.

Treatment Areas

What To Expect

The painless procedure will take anywhere from 30-50 minutes depending on the customized peel or facial you opt into. There is no downtime; however, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure after the procedure and we recommend wearing an SPF 50 sunshield. Your skin will look brighter and have an improved texture immediately after dermaplaning. If desired, dermaplaning can be done every 3-4 weeks.v
