Botox and Dermal Fillers
Breaking news everybody, did you know breasts and butts are out and faces are in? I know, I’m talking about cosmetic procedures. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons just released their stats from this past year and these are the top five procedures and you won’t see any breast augmentation on this one. So, Botox is number one. More than 6 million people got Botox last year. It’s followed by fillers, chemical peels, and laser hair removal. So it’s all about the face. And here to show us why people like Botox and fillers so much is Dr. Ryan Diederich from the MidAmerica Plastic Surgery, and two of his clients, Tierney is here, and Sue. And they both just got Botox and fillers. In fact, this was your first time right, Sue?
Yes, Virginia, yes.
And do you love it?
I love it, and I’m going to keep doing it, yes.
Forever and ever?
So, let’s talk about this and why people are, I mean, to me it’s obvious because there’s no surgery involved. Do you think that’s why more people are willing to do this?
Well, absolutely. You know, the procedures are still continuing to climb over time and more people are doing them. But the minimally invasive is great. You have it done, you can do it over lunch, it’s quick, minimal downtime. Great results. So I’m not surprised.
Now have you seen a dramatic drop in women who want breast augmentation?
You know, actually just the opposite. Nationally, it went down slightly this year, but over the last ten years it’s continued to climb. And in this area, those numbers still continue to climb pretty dramatically.
But the Botox is going up too?
But the Botox is definitely going up.
Butt implants in St. Louis? Is that popular?
You know, I don’t see much of that at all.
Okay, (laughter) just wondering.
Alright, so let’s talk about what happened and we can start with Tierney, because you umm had more than just the Botox, you had fillers put in too. And we have your pictures to show the before and after. The laugh lines, that’s what I really noticed when I looked at your pictures.
Yes, those went away and it’s nice, yes.
In person, even more so, and this was just a day after the injections?
She had been injected the day before this picture just to show right away what it looks like.
Wow! Look at that! Also, that, and I have this too, that line right between your eyes, you worked on that?
Yes, right up here, the frown line, so yes.
Does it hurt?
No, not at all.
How long until you notice the changes?
Well, at least a day, but probably two days to notice the change.
And what I’m noticing too, you know we hear about people freezing their face, and you can’t see any emotion once they get the Botox, but I can see happiness and she could probably look mad if she wanted to.
You know, it depends where the treatment is done. But, if it is done correctly and in the right spots, you really do still have all of that emotion and expression that you want to have.
So you had filler?
And you had filler too?
And you had it under your eyes and on some scarring on your chin. We have a before and after photo of that. Okay, I have both of those and that’s why I am so interested in this. Look at that scarring. It’s almost completely gone. And then the filler right under your eyes. A lot of us have to deal with that and it can really age a person. But, would it hurt to have someone putting needles in that thin skin right there?
It does not hurt anymore than a little tiny prick anywhere else. I was also injected here (points to glabella) and crow’s feet and it was worth it. There is local anesthetic that Doctor puts on and just a little tiny prick. It was nothing. It was easier than a lip wax, for me.
Have people in your lives noticed a difference?
Yes. Even right away when I had bruising a swelling. They said “Wow” and they could tell something had happened.
Any they thought you looked good?
oh yes. I’m thrilled.
Okay, really quickly: Botox can last three months, but if you do it on a continuous basis it can last longer?
Absolutely, if people keep up with it over time you can get a longer period.
And fillers can last six months
Fillers can last six months to a year and even more. So, you can really have long results.
I need this right here, and this right here (points to face). I’m in! Okay. Thanks so much. You guys look amazing. And did I mention their ages? 55 and 57. I can’t tell because they look so young.
