Brotox

As we age, we all develop lines and wrinkles, which can sometimes make us look older than we actually feel. Men can actually be more susceptible to developing premature lines and wrinkles, especially in the glabella, commonly referred to as “frown lines” or “elevens.” Fortunately, there are solutions to this. Dysport and Botox are for you too, guys!

What is Dysport/Botox? Without getting too technical, Dysport and Botox’s active ingredient is the botulinum toxin, which blocks chemoreceptors on the muscles, preventing contraction. No muscle contraction means no dynamic wrinkles. The difference between Dysport and Botox relates to the protein molecules, but it really is similar to a “Coke v. Pepsi” situation. Neuromodulators (Dysport, Botox) can treat, as well as prevent these premature signs of aging.

Understanding male facial aesthetics is important when establishing your goals and being on the same page with your provider. For men considering Dysport or Botox, you might think your dosing sounds a little high. Men in general require a higher amount of neuromodulators than women to achieve improvement of deep lines and wrinkles. That’s because the involved facial muscles are more sizable in males. One of our experienced injectors here at The Spa at MidAmerica, located in Glen Carbon, IL, will estimate the number of units of Dysport or Botox you will need based on an evaluation of your muscle size, which leads to movement and can cause those lines and wrinkles. A follow-up in 2 weeks can help determine if you need more to achieve optimal results.
