Filler + COVID Vaccine: What You Need to Know

Have you had the COVID-19 vaccine? And If no, do you plan to receive the COVID-19 vaccine?

We are currently recommending that patients wait a minimum of 4 weeks before or after getting their COVID-19 vaccine to receive filler at The Spa at MidAmerica. There have only been a few incidences noted where patients have had reported a reaction when filler was placed in a short time span after receiving a vaccination. We are just being overly cautious and waiting 4 weeks before proceeding with your treatment.

When you are getting the vaccination it is revving up your immune system, which can lead to you body trying to find anything it thinks is “foreign” to your body. Your immune system could potentially try getting rid of the product and cause an inflammatory reaction to the injection site where the filler is placed. This can typically be cleared with a round of steroids, but is something that we are trying to prevent.
