Is It Time for a Breast Augmentation Revision?

Many breast augmentation patients will need to consider revision at some point in their life even if they are thrilled with the initial outcome. Sometimes, this is simply because the patient desires a different aesthetic appearance such as changing implant size or adding a lift as things continue to settle. Other times, there is an issue with the implants such as rupture or capsular contracture. No matter the reasons or goals, Dr. Diederich has completed numerous implant exchanges and revisions over the years. Women seeking revision breast augmentation travel from St. Louis to our Southern Illinois practice because the procedure requires a surgeon with expertise.

Dr. Diederich is a board-certified plastic surgeon and has been in practice since 2011. During this time, breast procedures have been among his most common. These include breast augmentation, breast lifts, breast reductions, breast implant removal with or without replacement, and breast reconstruction. This means that he has significant experience with a variety of options to reach patients’ goals for their breasts.

During the consultation, our Patient Care Coordinators and Dr. Diederich sit down with each patient to really understand their goals and concerns. By considering concerns and anatomy, they create a personalized plan for each patient to help reach their goals. There are many options that can be combined to perfectly fit each individual patient.

The patient in the before and after image above came to Dr. Diederich after having her original implants for almost 30 years! She was happy with her size but started to notice some changes including firming of the implants. During the procedure, it was discovered that one of her implants had ruptured and she was in the beginning stages of Capsular Contracture which can become painful if left untreated. By exchanging her implants, Dr. Diederich was able to treat the rupture and the Capsular Contracture. Dr. Diederich was also able to replace with the same size of implants so that this patient still have the look she liked without the other issues.
