MOXI Laser for Melasma

MOXI laser treatment for melasma at MidAmerica Plastic Surgery

Say hello to MOXI, MidAmerica’s newest addition to its lineup of powerful lasers. MOXI is a non ablative fractional laser that gently polishes the skin for a refreshed look without heavy downtime. One of the main reasons people choose MOXI is its ability to safely treat all skin tones, from very fair to deeper complexions.

Many lasers are not suitable for darker skin because they target pigment too aggressively. MOXI takes a different approach, using gentle non ablative technology to support skin renewal without harming the surrounding tissue.

The Best Treatment for Melasma

MOXI is considered one of the safest and most effective laser treatments for those prone to melasma. Melasma is a common hormonal skin condition that can flare during pregnancy but linger long after. While it can be treated, it cannot be cured. It may appear as brown or grayish brown patches or even resemble freckles. It typically darkens and lightens over time, often worsening in the summer and improving in the winter.

While traditional laser treatments often focus on the skin’s surface, MOXI works differently. Rather than aggressively targeting pigment, which can sometimes worsen melasma, MOXI uses a non ablative approach that focuses on the water within the skin. In simple terms, this allows the skin to gradually renew itself without overstimulating pigment production.

What to Expect

MOXI treatments are relatively quick and involve only minor discomfort, as your provider will apply a medical grade topical numbing cream before treatment. Mild redness and flaking are common during the first 3 to 5 days after treatment.

It is important to care for your skin properly after treatment to maximize results and help prevent complications. This includes avoiding sun exposure, wearing sunscreen daily, and using gentle skincare products. Your provider will send you home with aftercare instructions and answer any questions you have so you can feel confident throughout your healing journey.
