If you’re considering breast augmentation, you likely have many questions. Most patients are concerned about how to choose the right implants and whether they’re safe as well as what kind of recovery time they can expect and how much the procedure costs. We answer those and other top questions in this blog post.
What is a natural breast implant size?
That depends on your physical frame and other individual factors. During your 90-minute consultation, we will try on implants and place your image on the VECTRA 3D imaging machine. These two methods combined allow us to work together in finding a size that will get you to your goals while keeping your breasts in balance with your body.
Are implants safer today?
Breast implants are among the most studied medical devices available. Though there are risks to any medical procedure, many women get breast implants and go on to live full, healthy lives. Dr. Diederich uses high-resolution ultrasound screening as part of his patients’ follow-up care to ensure their implants remain intact and rupture-free.
Is natural-looking breast augmentation possible? I don’t want to look too fake!
Dr. Diederich prides himself on delivering natural results. We take our time during your consultation to ensure we select the correct size for you. Believe it or not, there is a way to do breast implants tastefully. Of course, if you desire a more augmented look, we can do that too. 🙂
Do I have to re-do implants every 10 years?
Maybe not. If you are still happy at your 10-year follow-up and your breast implants are still intact, there is no reason to replace them.
How long after breast augmentation can I pick up my kids?
Most patients usually return to normal duties around 2 to 3 days after surgery. We strongly encourage you not to lift your little ones for the first 4 weeks, but we realize that’s not completely realistic. There are ways to safely lift your little ones while still protecting your implants. Don’t worry, we will show you how!
How painful is breast augmentation surgery?
Everyone’s pain level after breast augmentation is different. Dr. Diederich uses techniques during and after surgery to help minimize pain. Most of our patients use pain medication 1 to 2 days after surgery. Healthline offers more information about discomfort and what to expect during recovery.
How much is breast augmentation?
Straight-forward breast augmentation with silicone implants costs $7,600- $8,400. Adding a breast lift to that will bring your total to about $12,000. These fees include surgeon, anesthesia, and facility fees as well as the implants. It also includes any pre-op appointments and all of your follow-ups.
Will I have scars?
You will. Dr. Diederich places the incision under the breast but slightly onto the very bottom of your breast so that it cannot be seen while looking straight at you and to make sure it won’t pop out of your bikini! Most incisions go on to fade into a very fine line. Very rarely do our patients need scar treatment.
You can see in our patients’ before and after photos below (and in our photo gallery) how well the scars are concealed.
Will my implants rupture?
Implants are not lifelong devices, and they can rupture. With that being said, I have seen patients do well with implants 15 to 20 years out. It is extremely important to follow up with your surgeon yearly to make sure your implants are doing well.
